Eagle Leadership Service Project

Patrick's project helped the Thrift shop at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. The shop provides affordable clothing and small household items to those in need. Over the last couple years, the shop has grown. Adequate storage for donated items has become a problem. Patrick met with the store manager and developed a project that would renovate one of the rooms in the building, creating much needed storage space. The project also created new display space in the check-out area of the shop.

Working over two long days, members of Troop 119 along with help from Troop 121 in Lynn, the room was cleaned, old paint scraped as needed, and a fresh coat of paint was applied. The boys and adults built and painted shelving for the new storage room and for the checkout area. A display board was built and hung in the checkout area for display of jewlery.

This project would not have been possible without the help from Fr. John and the staff at the thrift shop, Mr. John Stueve, members of Troop 119, Troop 121 in Lynn, the and the Sample family. Shaws supermarket dontated gift cards for food, Tasty pizza offered a discount on pizza. The Home Depot was extremely generous by donating $250 towards the purchase of material for the project.
